Talk about a great weekend! And not a moment of my time was wasted. On Friday night, I was lucky enough to have two of my closest friends over for dinner. Becky came into San Antonio for the night, and we called Garrett over for pizza and a movie. By the time we got settled in and ate, we didn't get a chance to watch a movie. I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out and catching up with them. It felt just like old times. Now we just have to get Becky to join us up here in San Antonio.
On Saturday, I woke up early and took Becky to the airport. Then I met up with Garrett, Amanda, Tony, and James, and we headed to the Habitat for Humanity build site. Once there, we got with the rest of our church buddies and went to work. I started out painting, a new experience for me. Others worked on siding and blocking. The group of us painting finished quickly, so we moved on to trimming the windows and the shed roof. At this point, Dee, our house leader, showed me how to use the table saw. From that point on, I was the official "cutter" for our site. It was so much fun using a power tool! And I promise I was careful too. The day went by so fast, and before I knew it, it was time to go. I had such a blast and made some great new friends and got to know others better. I feel blessed to have been a part of this service day.
